  2. My daughter (12), son (10), wife and I spent an amazing 4 days/3 nights with Jenie and his crew exploring the delights of Tanjung Puting National Park. Jenie brought the park to life with his encyclopedic knowledge of its flora and fauna. I would highly recommend both visiting this amazing area and using Jenie as your guide!

  3. My wife and myself start our Indonesia trip in Kalimantan’s Tanjung Putting National Park by the end of past June; although the rest of the journey in the other islands was great, both agree the 3D/2N tour we spend in the National Park was the most extraordinary experience.
From the very beginning, Jenie, his brother Turis and all his “klotok” crew make this tour unforgettable.
Orangutans, proboscis “long nose” monkeys, macaques, water snakes, crocodiles, kingfishers, nice sunsets, nights with trees plenty of fireflies, sunrise hearing thousands of jungle sounds, etc…
Everything surrounded with the detailed explanations of Turis and Jenie, which love their Island, the park biodiversity, and specially these “almost human” orangutans.
Most important; Jenie have a mission to work for in Kumai, protect the orangutans environment in Borneo, thank you very much for let us feel as part of it.

As conclusion, we highly recommend everyone visiting this paradise and do it with Jenie and his team to make the trip memorable.

  4. Jenie – Sorry it’s taken so long to write!
This is James and Laura. We visited the Tanjung Puting National Park with your tour in October, 2014.
It was an amazing experience from start to finish. The crew were great fun and really looked after us. They showed us all sorts of wildlife at every opportunity. The main attraction was the Orangutan’s which were incredible to observe, but we were so impressed to see crocodiles in the wild on route to the base camps. In addition we saw a Monitor Lizard as well as a variety of different species of Monkeys as we drifted through the waterways.
We loved sleeping on the boat in the rainforest, it was truly an unforgettable experience. The fire flies were spectacular. The food was amazing, as was the crews knowledge of the surroundings.
It was so fantastic that we have recommended it to many people. Our friend Brooke has now also just been on your tour and we’re sure she also shared an amazing experience.
We want to Thank You so much as it was one of the highlights of our 4 months travelling. It was truly an unforgettable experience. We thank you so much for inviting us into your home and for showing us such an amazing experience. You all had some fantastic stories to share with us.
We would recommend this to anyone who wants to see Orangutan’s amongst other wildlife. It’s a truly unforgettable experience! 

  5. Jo and I spent 2 incredible days chugging along the Skonyer river on a traditional Klotok in Tanjung Puting National Park. Jenie and his wife are among the kindest and most friendly people we have ever met, they will do everything they can to make sure you have the most wonderful trip. Jenie arranged a fantastic guide and crew for us, all of whom never stopped smiling the whole time we were with them. The food cooked on board, was fresh and delicious and just kept on coming! During our trip, we were lucky enough to see wild orang utans, gibbons, troops of proboscis monkeys, macaques, a variety of interesting birds, hundreds of fireflies, glow in the dark mushrooms and even a wild tarantula!
We were totally thrilled and enthralled the entire time.
We can't recommend Jenie and his team highly enough. It really was the trip of a lifetime and will stay with us forever.

  10. We did a two day trip, one night sleeping on the boat. I must admit I was quite nervous about the trip. It was my partner who had chosen to do it. However, It was an I credible experience. I felt safe, secure and comfortable at all times.
Food:plentiful, tasty food-we were never hungry! Also snacks and mineral water provided in between. The only critique I'd have is that a refillable water supply would be better for the environment as we went through a lot of plastic bottles.
I felt that the crew anticipated needs all the time.

Staff: attentive, friendly, polite, could tell they enjoyed their work

The guide: great English speaker, caring, kind, organised, good knowledge of surrounding wildlife. A trail blazer for women guides! Go girl. We felt very comfortable being two women travelling alone with a female guide.

Living Arrangements : comfortable mattress in the deck with large mosquito net and blankets.
Toilet basic but good, always clean. Basic shower.
Take LOTS of bug spray! So many mosquitos! Not on the boat but mostly in the forest and when watching on the feeding platforms. I was bitten 23 times.

    Orangutans:
We moored up on three research/ feeding stations where we walked to the feeding platform for about 30 min.
We then stayed by the feeding station quietly for up to 2 hours, which is about 5metres away from the platform which the rangers put out bananas and milk for them.

The orangutans in Tan Jun Puting National Park are semi wild, ex captive orangutans. They're no longer released here but the ex captives continue to thrive. They don't rely on the feeding of bananas by the rangers, they get their own food from fruits and termites but there are set times that they are fed, to attract them to the viewing platform for visitors to see.
We were so lucky to see the alpha male orangutan, Terry, at camp leaky! Several females and their babies and a very cheeky macquae! We also saw wild boar family and a black squirrel type animal on the forest floor scooping up the left overs!

    We saw amazing butterflies everywhere!

At night we went on a night trek in the forest where we saw smoking spores from the trees, emitting a mushroom earthy smell, tarantulas, a mouse deer, learned about a plant that helps with the treatment of malaria and saw glow in the dark mushrooms!!

We went to bed under our net and it was a really good night's sleep. Much better than I had expected. The rainforest is noisy, teaming with cicadas and bird and frog noises but strangely hypnotic.

On our way from the final feeding station the final day, we saw
Proboscis monkeys (of which only 1000 are known to remain in the wild) playing in the trees by the Riverside. I caught a glimpse of a monitor lizard too through the trees on the river!

On the way back after candle lit dinner we saw fire flies in the trees- it was like a Xmas tree with fairy lights! We definitely saw a crocodiles head lurking above the water too at one point!

In between all the wildlife spotting we snoozed on the deck whilst watching the world go by and enjoying the river breeze.

This is a truly unforgettable experience and a great way to experience the borneo rainforest and see the wildlife before it becomes extinct.

We greatly support the work that jenie subaru does for the orangutan and its habitat and hope that visitors continue to visit and support this venture for many years to come.

  13. The most impressive tour I've ever made, with a Klotok through Tanjung Putting to see all this beautiful nature and animals, including a night hike and excellent food.

I'm happy to spent my money for this as I can be sure it will be used for good things, and still support whenever I can with some donation.
It is my best example that tourism can help to preserve our world with its amazing places!

Guys you are a blast. Adi the best guide, crew super sweet, the captain did not kill us and a special mention to the cook!!! These people leave their homes for half a year so we can enjoy real experiences. We had the best three days in Indonesia thanks to you. Slept like babies, had super exciting experiences in the forest and ate like kings and queens. Orang utan, macacs, fireflies, and crocodiles, what else could we ask for? We are happy some dedicate their life to protect the little nature there is left. Do not doubt it. Best thing we have done so far. Btw, do not forget a tip at the end!!! Terima kasih guys!!! Gemma and Carlos.

  16. We loved this trip and cannot say enough about it. It was spectacular. The boat and crew were amazing. Iman was our guide and he was over the top knowledgeable about so many things but especially birds and the orangutans. We saw so many orangutans, both wild and rehab animals. The jungle walks at night were absolutely amazing. We highly recommend those. The food was fantastic, Hanni our chef was the best!! Jenie the owner of the company was extremely thorough and responsive. He does an incredible job of organizing these trips. I would highly recommend this tour operator.

We were on tour with Jenie‘s team in May 2023. Iman was a great guide. We saw already at the first evening a group of Dutch Monkeys moving along the river, what was really amazing! Seeing Orang Utan was one of the best experiences we ever had. We appreciate there are people like Jenie and his team, taking care for them and sharing the experience to see Orang Utan in nature with people like us. We loved the time on the Klotok and the nights in the Jungle. Why did we chose Jeanie? We were afraid, the raintime is still not finished. On my question „Is it raining every day?“ Jenie answered: „Well, yes. That‘s why we call it rainforrest!“. Save the Orang Utan! Take care for nature! Avoid palmtree products! We highly recommend Jenie for the tour!

  18. An incredible experience! Jennie and her family are very nice. Sandy was our guide and we got to see many organutans and other monkeys, two crocodiles and other animals. The experience in the klotok is precious and highly recommended. The food that Jennie and Sandy's aunt made us was delicious. I would recommend doing this tour with them!!!
